La caña, conocida también como resaca, estar con la mona o –para quienes gustan de usar anglicismos, hangover– es ese terrible despertar con secuelas luego de una noche desordenada. Aunque la más común –o al menos la más conocida– es la clásica caña producto del exceso de alcohol, no es la única. Porque hay muchas sustancias, situaciones, circunstancias que pueden desencadenar estos síntomas. Y por supuesto, las soluciones para cada uno de estos cuadros es diferente. Eso cuando hay solución, porque hay cañas irremediables.
A continuación, una breve reseña de algunas cañas. Con seguridad no son todas las que existen. Pero para completar la lista están ustedes, estimados, estimadas. De seguro varios de ustedes tendrán experiencia al respecto.
La caña alcohólica: es, ya está dicho, la más común. Luego de una noche de desenfreno etílico, el despertar de la mañana siguiente suele ser cargado al dolor de cabeza, problemas estomacales y boca reseca, pastosa. En muchos casos se suman los ojos rojos y ardiendo, lo que en conjunto con los demás síntomas, puede ser un verdadero infierno. ¿Soluciones? No muchas: ingerir líquido en grandes cantidades, tratar de dormir algunas horas extra, tomar paracetamol o algún otro calmante del dolor. Evitar, por supuesto, los decibeles excesivos.
La caña de cigarro: menos conocida que la caña alcohólica, la caña de cigarro se manifiesta principalmente en la garganta rasposa, la voz un par de tonos más baja que lo habitual y algo de tos. Dependiendo de la cantidad de tabaco/nicotina/alquitrán aspirados, los síntomas serán más o menos intensos. Se suma, por lo general, una aversión intensa al olor a cigarro, que obviamente impregna la ropa, el pelo y todo, todo lo que lo rodea. ¿Solución? Ninguna. Los remedios para el dolor de garganta algo alivian, pero créanme, no demasiado. Solo queda esperar a que pasen los síntomas. Paciencia, y no se le ocurra prender el primer cigarro del día en horario AM.
La caña electoral: es la que afecta a los perdedores al día siguiente de una elección. Esa amargura en la boca, esa sensación de haber podido hacer algo para obtener el triunfo, la idea de que el vencedor no merecía la victoria. Los síntomas son más o menos severos dependiendo del compromiso político del afectado. Generalmente, mientras más comprometido, mayor caña. En el Paradójicamente, son los más afectados quienes primero se recuperan. Asimismo, quienes mayor responsabilidad tienen en la derrota –por lo tanto, los mayores causantes de la caña– suelen no sufrir de la misma. A los afectados, solo les queda tener paciencia y resignarse. Tarde o temprano pasa.
La caña moral: aparece luego de una noche que, por lo general, combina varios desenfrenos. Suele ir acompañada de la caña alcohólica y/o la del cigarro. Aparece cuando en la mentada noche se cometieron actos reñidos con la propia moral, conciencia, costumbre o cualquier otro término similar. Obviamente, mientras más severos y acotados sean los propios límites violados, mayor será la caña. El único remedio posible es flexibilizar las normas. Déjese de joder metafóricamente y hágalo literalmente, es mucho más sano.

som aquellas que te quedas estudiando hasta ants de la prueba, es decir toda la noche, duermes una o dos hora, despues das la prueba temprano por la mañana y despues de darla, quedas como el cerebro exprimido, sin ganas de nada, caña de estudio...

Es necesario aclarar que no existe "Una" caña alcohólica, sino que tantas como tragos existen. Algo que uno aprende a diferenciar con el tiempo.
Caña de cerveza; un intenso dolor de cabeza, como si te hubiesen secado el cerebro. Particular sensibilidad a los ruidos.
Caña de vino; Boca pastosa, dolor de cabeza moderado, costra morada en los labios y/o dientes, y una preocupante coloración de las deposiciones.
Caña de piscola: Dolor de cabeza moderado, boca pastosa y dulzona, con los dientes particularmente sucios. Aceleramiento del flujo intestinal y otras consecuencias desagradables para quienes nos rodean. Especial capacidad para sentirle olor a pisco a cualquier bebida cola.
Caña de Vodka: nada más que una leve y elegante migraña, a veces acompañada de caña moral mas que otra cosa.
Caña mixta (cuando se ha tomado de todo): incapacidad absoluta de levantarse en horario AM. Tiritones, temblores de mano, y deseos de dejar el alcohol para siempre.
Un sabio.

Hola, una pequena aclaracion, el estar pedo es mexicano y refiere a nuestro estar curado, o estar ebrio... digamos que al acto mismo de haber bebido en exceso, o desbandandose. Sin embargo, el acto de tener canha, hachazo, resaca o "estar con la mona", ellos le llaman "estar crudo", "andar crudo" y todos los derivados que se les ocurran donde la palabra cruda (y sus variaciones x ejemplo crudisimo) tenga cabida.
Por otra parte, los hermanos venezolanos le llaman raton a la resaca, ergo estan enratonados al dia siguiente de "la peda" como diria un hermano mexicano o de rascarse como diria un venezolano de tomo y lomo como el mismo Chavez. Y creo que es en colombia que a la canha misma le dicen guayabo.
